Dr Frank Atherton, Wales’ Chief Medical Officer, today (March 30)told the BBC that “...There is enough PPE (personal protective equipment) in Wales for the current demand”, but the Shadow Health Minister was not reassured by this statement.
Angela Burns AM said:
“Dr Atherton is right to say that PPE an in-demand resource, and one we ‘… need to use wisely’, although I must stress that it’s not just tomorrow, or next week, that needs to be planned for, but potentially months ahead.
“Our dedicated front-line NHS Wales staff need to be reassured that the equipment they need to protect them while they care for us will be there.
“It must, as a matter of critical urgency, be addressed by the Welsh Government, because tomorrow or next week might be too late."
