Welsh Conservatives have welcomed the further details released today (April 10) about the Welsh Government’s new £500-million Economic Resilience Fund.
Details published today include eligibility criteria for businesses and charities to enable them to prepare to apply.
The fund is designed to provide additional financial support during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and will help organisations to manage cash flow pressures. It is aimed to help plug gaps not already met by existing schemes.
Russell George AM – the Shadow Minister for Business – said:
“We broadly welcome the scheme announced today, and it follows constructive working between the Welsh Conservatives and the Welsh Government.
“I have been urging the Government to come forward with schemes to help the self-employed, and although it is unlikely that this fund will meet al requirements of all businesses, and charities and social enterprises affected by the pandemic, it is clearly a step in the right direction.
“I will continue to speak with businesses myself directly and with organisations representing businesses interests, and I will keep pointing out to Government where I believe there are gaps in support.”
Applications open on April 17, and full details on the eligibility criteria can be found at fundchecker.businesswales.gov.wales.
