Commenting on the announcement local lockdown restrictions in Caerphilly are being extended for a second time, Welsh Conservative health spokesperson, Andrew RT Davies MS said:
"This will be bitterly disappointing for people and business in Caerphilly.
"It's been a month since Caerphilly became the first place in Wales to be placed into local lockdown, yet case rates are now higher today than when restrictions were first implemented, which suggests Labour's blanket county-wide lockdowns are not working.
"This reinforces the need for Labour ministers to publish case data in a far more detailed manner and switch a smarter, more hyper-local approach to restrictions across Wales.
"Sadly, this current strategy is not only failing but is hurting the economy and is in serious danger of creating lockdown fatigue, which with a long winter ahead could be devastating for both lives and livelihoods."
