Commenting on the news that the Bowen Inquiry has been called off, Paul Davies AM, Leader of the Opposition in the Welsh Assembly says that “questions still remain”.
The Inquiry was set up to investigate the events prior to the death of Carl Sargeant AM.
Paul Davies AM said:
“This inquiry has been going on for more than two years and the family, friends and colleagues of Carl are no closer to knowing the truth about the circumstances and events which led to his death.
“While I fully respect the agreement between the First Minister and the Sargeant family it is clear that many questions remain unanswered and there is more information which could and should have been made available to them and Assembly Members for scrutiny.
“Honesty and transparency will be at the heart of any Government that I lead so, should I become First Minister following the next elections to the Welsh Parliament, I will look again at the leak inquiry with a view to publishing more information so that we can restore trust in politics and clean up the murky waters in which the current administration has been operating.”
