Are e-scooters right for Wales?

Responding to the news that Cardiff and Swansea are considering trialling e-scooters, Natasha Asghar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, said: 

“E-scooters have the potential to boost tourism, the local economy and encourage more sustainable city commuting.

“However, there are real concerns surrounding their safety and the risk of the similar vandalism and theft that lead to the early termination of the Nextbike scheme in Cardiff earlier this year.

“If trials move forward, it’s essential to learn best practices from European cities that have successfully implemented e-scooters – so that all risks are mitigated effectively, and theft is clamped down on."
