Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport, Natasha Asghar MS, has demanded immediate answers after shocking images emerged of commuters being cramped, and unable to social distance, on trains across the Welsh rail network over the weekend.

Commenting, she said:

“Thanks to the UK’s fantastic vaccination rollout, we are gradually returning to normality – but there is no room for complacency.

“Ensuring there are top-notch safety measures to prevent COVID-19 is still more important than ever, yet images emerging of passengers being cramped like sardines on trains across the Welsh rail network over the weekend is of huge concern.

“The situation needs to be urgently addressed by both Labour ministers and Transport for Wales to ensure public transport across the country is safe and commuters can travel in confidence.”
