FIX TRANSPORT

Only a Welsh Conservative Government will:

  • Return to a 30mph default speed limit – ensuring sensitive areas, such as schools and hospitals remain 20mph.
  • Unfreeze all road projects - and no more new cycle lanes until roads are fixed.
  • Deliver an M4 Relief Road.
  • Electrify the North Wales Main Line, calling on the UK Government to reinstate funding for the project.
  • Call on the UK Government to provide consequential funding for Wales as a result of spending on HS2 and the Oxford and Cambridge rail investments and to provide additional resources to deliver an M4 relief road and upgrade the A55 Trunk Road, given their importance as strategic routes for UK connectivity.

Labour and Plaid’s decision to introduce default 20mph speed limits saw the history making, and recording breaking Senedd petition to scrap this.

Labour’s own explanatory memorandum to their 20mph speed limit bill outlines that default 20mph speed limits could cost the Welsh economy up to £9 billion pounds.

Furthermore, we know that 20mph speed limits are not only slowing the people of Wales down, but also slowing down emergency services.

The Welsh Conservatives would scrap default 20mph speed limits, and only have them in common sense locations, such as outside schools or hospitals.
