Only a Welsh Conservative Government will:
- Rule out any new tax rises.
- Cut the basic rate of income tax by 1p - funded through efficiency measures across government departments, protecting health, schools and farming.
- Create more jobs in Wales and improve Wales’ economic activity rate.
- Abolish Welsh Stamp Duty for primary residences in Wales.
- Eliminate business rates for small businesses.
- Cut business rates and provide more free parking in town centres.
- Axe the tourism tax before it comes into force.
- Ensure local referendums for councils proposing council tax rises by over 5 per cent in a single financial year.
- Amend the planning system to promote a mixed offer on high streets.
- Level-up the whole of Wales with adequate levels of investment for all parts of the country.
- Establish a seaside towns fund to help address the challenges in coastal communities.
- Establish a market towns fund to help address challenges in Wales's market towns.
- Work with the National Lottery Community Fund to promote community ownership of important assets threatened with closure.
- Review the Fiscal Framework for Wales, including borrowing powers and drawdown limits.
- Call on the UK Government to reverse inheritance tax changes for family farms and family firms.
- Call on the UK Government to reverse the increase in Employer's National Insurance and reimburse Wales for failing to fund the full costs of these to date.
People in Wales pay the highest business rates in Great Britain, and pay more of their salary towards Council Tax than those living in England. The Welsh Conservatives will put more money in people’s pockets.
Under Labour, the UK tax burden is set to hit an all-time high leaving taxpayers paying more but getting less in return
A Welsh Conservative Government will put more money in people’s pockets by cutting the basic rate of income tax by 1p, saving the average Welsh family £450 per year.
As part of our bold plans to fix Wales, 1.7 million people will receive a tax cut, with the average working family being £450 per year better off, giving them the choice of where to spend more of their hard-earned money. The income tax cut would cost £299m, 1.15% of the Welsh Government’s total £26bn budget. The cut will be funded via efficiency savings in all Welsh Government departments, while protecting funding for health, schools and farming.
A Welsh Conservative Government would Scrap the Welsh Stamp Duty (Land Transaction Tax), putting more money back in people's pockets and to get our economy moving.
In addition to this, a Welsh Conservative Government would eliminate business rates for small businesses, and would keep Council Tax low by enforcing local referenda for Councils wishing to raise Council Tax by over 5%.
